Penina Davidson played 5 seasons and over 100 games in the WNBL for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers.  A Boomers fan favourite, Davidson was awarded Boomers Players’ Player and Most Improved Player for season 23-24. Captain of the Tall Ferns, Davidson was named New Zealand Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player in 2020 and 2021.

Tera Reed made her WNBL debut for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers in Season 23-24. She was recently named New Zealand Female Player of the Year in recognition of her performance for the Tall Ferns at the FIBA Asia Cup. Prior to playing in the WNBL Reed spent 4 years playing College Basketball in the USA.

Paige Burrows made her WNBL debut in season 22-23 as a development player for the Deakin Melbourne Boomers. She was a member of the 2023 Australian Under 19 National Team, playing in the U19 FIBA World Cup in Spain. Burrows was awarded Knox Raiders (NBL1) Player or the Year in 2023.

Issie Bourne commenced her professional career in the WNBL playing for Adelaide Lightning in season 23-24. Prior to playing for Adelaide, Bourne spent four years at the University of Nebraska, where she was team captain and won the 2023 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. Bourne represented Australia in the 2019 U19 National Team.

Lou Brown started her WNBL journey with the Deakin Melbourne Boomers before joining the Southside Flyers in 2023, becoming a member of their championship team. As a rising star, Lou earned a scholarship to the Australian Institute of Sport, representing Australia at both the U17 and U19 FIBA World Championships. Her collegiate basketball career spanned six years, split between Washington State University and the University of Tennessee.

Bella Niven-Brown was a member of the Deakin Melbourne Boomers 21-22 Championship squad. She is a current Southside Flyers training player. Niven-Brown plays for Dandenong Rangers in NBL1 and was selected in the BIG V Championship Women’s squad for 2024.

Jaz Shelley is a former Deakin Melbourne Boomers development player. She was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA this year and became the inaugural signing for Geelong United WNBL. Shelley has also spent time playing college basketball at Oregon and Nebraska.

Hailing from Beckley, West Virginia. Michael offers a wealth of knowledge to the game of basketball.

A former college/professional basketball player, Michael has now transitioned into high level coaching.

He’s the current NBL1 Women’s Assistant/Skills Development Coach and VJBL Lead Coach at Diamond Valley Basketball Association while also Head Coaching multiple basketball academies across Victoria.

With his love and passion for the game, Michael makes it a point to put his best foot forward with hard work and positivity every time he steps on the floor as a player or as a coach.
